-------------------------

Here at the Cinesploitation complex there is a hierarchy of exploitation babes that really turn our crank; Christina Lindberg, Laura Gemser, Dyanne Thorne, Pam Grier, Linda Blair and apropos of this article, the Mistress of Mountainous Melons, Uschi Digard. Uschi is the Swedish bombshell–just a couple of years older than her fellow countrywoman Christina Lindberg–who is probably best known for starring in Russ Meyers movies like Supervixens. She would also go on to roles in Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks along side the also big bosomed Dyanne Thorne and her most mainstream film The Kentucky Fried Movie as the voluptuous girl taking a shower in the "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble" segment. But she starred in ass-tons of softcore films and that, my perverted friends, are what we are going to focus on today.

--------------------

A few years ago there was a glut of extreme horror coming out of France colloquially dubbed "The New Wave of French Horror". Out of that stream of gory goodness came some very good movies and top filmmaking talent: Fabrice du Welz (Calvaire: The Ordeal), Xavier Gens (Frontiere(s)), Alexandre Aja (High Tension), Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) and the team of Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (Inside). Since then, the hubbub has completely died and dried up so we are set for the next tsunami of awesome. Leading that charge is the Italian company Necrostorm with their output like Adam Chaplin and their new one The Mildew from Planet Xonader, but right behind them could be fellow countryman, writer/director Gabriele Albanesi. Now, I know what you're thinking; "Didn't we have an Italian gore heyday in the '80s?" Yep, and we are due for another Fulci or Lamberto Bava to rise from the land of olive oil.

The Films of Chester Novell Turner

Click to BUY FROM AMAZON
Director: Chester N. Turner

Cast: Shirley L. Jones, Keefe L. Turner

Massacre Video / Region 1 / Unrated / 1.33:1 full frame / Mono / 133 minutes

Extras: Audio Commentary With Chester N. Turner And Shirley L. Jones / Return To The Quadead Zone' Documentary / Alternative Hollywood Home Theater VHS Cut Of Black Devil Doll From Hell / Stills Gallery / Trailers / Reversible Covers

---------------------

Even in this day and age of Google and the entirety of the internet, there is not much information on the infamous shot-on-video legend Chester Novell Turner. Aside from news of his two video movies, the only info you are likely to find is how he died in a car accident in the 1990s. Those erroneous reports are probably reaction to Turner pretty much falling off of the face of the Earth after making his second feature in the late '80s and going into hiding. Until now, Black Devil Doll From Hell and Tales From the QuadeaD Zone were only available on VHS and barely at that. They are very rare and highly sought after by video collectors. Most people have heard of Black Devil Doll From Hell have talked and read about it, but have never actually seen it and Tales From the QuadeaD Zone is just obscure, even to seasoned cult movie fans.

Tinto Brass gets a little CHEEKY!

Click to BUY FROM AMAZON
Director: Tinto Brass

Cast: Yuliya Mayarchuk, Francesca Nunzi, Jarno Berardi

Cult Epics / All Region / Unrated / 1.78:1 widescreen / ITALIAN & ENGLISH 2.0 Stereo / English subtitles / 91 minutes

Extras: Backstage with Tinto Brass / HD Trailer / Photo Video Gallery

------------------

In case you are not familiar with the awesome that is Italian filmmaker Tinto Brass, here is a crash course; he loves female asses. No really, the man is obsessed with plump, juicy derrières and never passes up a chance to zoom in on one or thirty. Besides this fact, he is probably best known for his gorgeously grotesque nazisploitation film Salon Kitty and doing the principal photography for Gore Vidal's Caligula. The nearly 80-year-old director made his first movie, Chi lavora è perduto (Who Works is Lost) in 1963 but honed his skills working with film greats like Federico Fellini (La Dolce Vita) whom he idolized. In 2000 he was a man well into his 60s with the sexual appetite of a college boy and making playful erotica like only he can with the aptly named Cheeky!, which I think is a better name than the original Trasgredire (Transgress).

Unearthed Films plus Ruggero Deodato equals AWESOME

Unearthed Films have announced that they will be releasing two movies associated with filmmaker Ruggero Deodato.

While not being in his usual role as director, Deodato will step in as associate producer of the Mexican gore-fest Atroz aka Atrocious for first time feature film director Lex Ortega. Ortega is primarily known as the sound designer for such movies as the werewolf flick Late Phases but he has also turned out some well respected short films over the past few years. In fact, Atroz was a short he did in 2012 and decided to flesh it out a bit more for this feature.

---------------------

In 1987 native New Zealander, and then unknown, Peter Jackson would cut his teeth in the film industry by creating what would become a classic trilogy of perverse and often very gory films, starting with the outrageous alien invasion flick, Bad Taste. A couple of years later he moved on to the grim and vulgar dark puppet show Meet the Feebles. But it wasn't until 1992 that Jackson really put his foot on the pedal and gave us a full-on splatter comedy by way of Dead Alive aka Braindead. Some 20 years later, New Zealand has had a resurgence in the horror-comedy business with titles like 2006's Black Sheep, Housebound and What We Do In The Shadows (both from 2014) and now the heavy metal gore-fest Deathgasm from first time writer/director Jason Lei Howden, who has worked as a visual effects artist for huge movies like The Avengers and of course, Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.

Tinto Brass holds THE KEY to Italian erotica

Click to BUY FROM AMAZON
Director: Tinto Brass

Cast: Frank Finlay, Stefania Sandrelli, Franco Branciaroli, Barbara Cupisti

Cult Epics / NTSC R1 / Unrated / Widescreen 1.85:1 Color / ENGLISH: Dolby Digital Stereo / SUBTITLES: English / 106 minutes

Extras: Exclusive interview with Director Tinto Brass / Photo Gallery / Trailers / Filmographies / Scene Selection

------------------

Italian film maker Tinto Brass is known in the U.S. and possibly the world for making the notoriously sleazy and grotesque Nazi epic Salon Kitty and the much maligned–and equally sleazy and grotesque–Bob Guccione (Penthouse magazine) vehicle Caligula in the mid to late '70s. Yet if you delve a little deeper into his work, you see that later on in his career he made a string of lighter, even "cheeky" some might say, European erotic movies with the focal point being his favorite part of the female anatomy; the buttocks, ass, arse, glutes, rear-end, etc. And for him, the bigger and more natural, the better. Kind of like Russ Meyer is with his fascination with big, natural ta-tas. Hmmmm, maybe they should have gotten together to make a Brass/Meyer super T&A flick...

Sought after slasher CHERRY FALLS coming to Blu-ray

Laura Gemser has a MURDER OBSESSION

Stivaletti / Interview with Claudio Simonetti (composer and founder of Goblin) / Interview with Gabriele Albanesi (director) / Deleted Scene / English and Italian language versions of the film / A fully illustrated booklet containing critical analysis of the film by Chris Alexander, Sangria Magazine

--------------------

The lovely Laura Gemser (Black Emanuelle) was my first real exploitation crush. Yes, there were horror movie scream queens like Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Marilyn Burns (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Adrienne "Barboobs" Barbeau (Creepshow) who came before the Indonesian born Gemser, who set my loins aflame first when I graduated into exploitation films. When I received Murder Obsession in the mail, I jumped to the conclusion that it was just another Italian made, generic giallo... *HO-FUCKIN-HUM*. Black-gloved, faceless killer... slow, boring pacing... very little to get excited about. Gemser isn't even mentioned on the Blu-ray package anywhere! So I stuck the disk in, settled back on the love seat and waited for the worst. In the opening scene, the very first person you see is Black Emanuelle herself getting throttled by some madman who was hiding behind the curtains.

Imagine if you will; the "fake Shemp" zombie from the Evil Dead movies, Josh Becker, directing Evil Dead and Spider-Man franchise writer/director Sam Raimi in the role of a lunatic, murderous hippie cult leader in a story co-written by "Ash" himself, Bruce Campbell. Also picture that story being about four Vietnam soldiers who raid that cult's compound in a violent, bullet riddled massacre to save a loved one from anti-war protesters and bikers who are planning on torturing and killing the victim. Does that sound nutty? Campy? Fucking awesome? Well, it is all of those things and more.

Harry Reems plays a no-named Vietnam Vet/rapist/serial killer with PTSD and suffers from flashbacks in Shaun Costello's classic roughie Forced Entry. Along with that comes his need to make up enemies and kill them as a way to deal with the pain. So, he uses his job at the local gas station to get girls' addresses. Once he gets their info it's on to the stalking, raping and finally the slashing. He uses the old "We don't take cash here, I need a credit card along with your address for verification" bit... amateur. But leave it to the free love and drugged out hippies who opposed the war to also bring down the murderous Vet. After a couple stalk/rape/slashes, he breaks into the loft of a couple of hot lesbian hippie chicks while they are having a drugged-out carpet munching party but they turn the tables on their would-be assailant. They completely take away his power by not only succumbing to him, but aggressively try to sex him up! What's a delusional rapist to do?

Cast: Anna Jimskaia, Riccardo Marino, Max Parodi, Nela Lucic

Cult Epics / NTSC All Region / Unrated / 1.85:1 Widescreen / Italian Language / English Subtitles / 94 minutes

Extras: Bonus film: Kick the Cock / Featurette: The Making of Monamour / Featurette: The Making of Kick the Cock / Comic Strip by Franco Saudelli / Venice Film Festival Premiere w/Tinto Brass / Spanish Dance by Angelita Franco / Original theatrical trailer

-------------------

Legendary erotic filmmaker Tinto Brass is known for his love of the voluptuous female tush. His films showcase the soft, round gluteus maximus with a hefty helping of bottom-heavy close-ups and gorgeous use of light and shadow to accentuate those qualities. In this late entry into his canon, Brass uses the breathtaking blonde Anna Jimskaia, in her only starring role, as his muse. She breathes and seethes blinding passion on camera and spend the majority of the film in various stages of undress. Her only job on screen is to ooze desperate sexuality and she does it with abandon. She is this movie and in a metaphorical kind of way, she makes love to Tinto Brass as much as the men in front of the camera.

Mondo Macabro digs up the long-lost José Ramón Larraz film SYMPTOMS

The Green Inferno: I wish a cannibal would eat Eli Roth

Click to BUY FROM AMAZON
Director: Eli Roth

Cast: Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira

Universal / Region A / Rated R / 2.40:1 widescreen (1080p) / English DTS-HD master audio 5.1 / English, Spanish and French subtitles / 101 minutes

Extras: Feature Commentary with Co-Writer-Director-Producer Eli Roth, Producer Nicolas Lopez, and Stars Lorenza Izzo, Aaron Burns, Kirby Bliss Blanton, and Daryl Sabara / Photo Gallery

----------------------------

I know the title of this article would suggest otherwise, but I am actually a fan of Eli Roth. His gory visions of flesh-ravaging diseases in Cabin Fever and lexicon-changing Hostel ("torture porn") and its sequel are fantastic horror movies. They combine the slick look of Hollywood movies and the attitude and graphic violence of the retro genre movies Roth obviously loves. His fake trailer "Thanksgiving" for the Tarantino/Rodriguez co-directed Grindhouse was easily one of my favorites of the lot. He makes guest appearances in other Tarantino films. Acts in over-the-top, fun remakes like Piranha 3D. Has his hand in producing other horror-related movies and TV shows like "Hemlock Grove". All because the guy loves old-school horror and exploitation movies. But can having one foot in the often offensive world of exploitation films and one in Hollywood be a detriment to his art?
