What would happen if the Brits took the backwoods raping and terrorizing of The Last House on the Left and a bit of the ol’ ultra violence (and Droog outfits) from A Clockwork Orange but didn’t stop there; what if they added a smidgen of sardonic, dry humor? That’s what you get with Killer’s Moon. But get this… all of that sleazy violence… it all happens to a group of innocent, barely pubescent high school choir girls. No shit! “Of course it’s a dream! And stuffed full of jailbait!” <—- actual quote from the movie.

The choir girls are taking a bus ride to their choir competition or some shit with two chaperons to keep them in check (you know how teenage girls can be when they get together). The bus breaks down so the entire group has to seek refuge in a bed & breakfast that is closed for renovation. Meanwhile four insane asylum inmates have escaped and are tripping on psychotropic drugs used for their treatment. The problem is, they all think they are dreaming and were told to act out on any whim they may have; the more violent and disgusting, the better. It’s therapeutic, man!

Of course the Four Horsemen of the Rape-ocalypse (Mr. Smith, Mr. Muldoon, Mr. Jones, and Mr. Trubshaw, respectively) stumble upon the B&B filled to the brim with the nubile songbirds and they get their murderin’ and sexual assaultin’ on. But wait! There are a couple of backpackers camping nearby and they get to play the heroes! So with the town whore in tow, the noble lot set off to save the virginal teens from certain devirginization! Can you really get any sleazier than that?

The premise is something out of an exploitation fan’s wet dreams. But does it deliver the disgusting goods? Yes and no. The material is treated more like a fun, cheesy romp than a down and dirty rape/revenge horror movie. There is bloodshed and sexual violence but it’s handled in a way that makes one think that maybe it was meant to be a parody. It never comes off as mean-spirited or serious. The four villains were an obvious lampoon of the Droogs from “Clockwork” and their acting was hilarious. In fact, the acting all the way around was horrendously hilarious.

This is the first DVD release for the movie and Redemption remastered it from the original materials. There are very minor defects, especially at the beginning, but overall it looks great, and the mono soundtrack comes through clearly. They stacked the extras for such a little known film with interviews and commentaries with director Alan Birkshaw and star JoAnne Good. There are also trailers for other Redemption titles and a stills gallery. If you are big into exploitation, especially off the beaten track stuff, definitely check this one out. Just lock up your teenage daughters beforehand.
