Ti West to direct real haunted hotel horror, “The Innskeeper”

Not only do I strongly believe that his latest efforts could quite possibly turn out to be something along the lines of Kubrick’s The Shining reborn (bold words, I know), but West has made the balsy decision of shooting the film on location at Connecticut’s Yankee Pedlar Inn, the notorious site of several ‘real-life’ hauntings; a bona fide house–er, hotel of horrors. The making of the film will be a truly ominous ordeal as the cast and crew will be taking up residence in the hotel during the film shoot. They will be eating, sleeping, and working amongst the ghosts, ghouls, and other ghastly apparitions that may be lurking around the halls of the Pedlar Inn. Let’s just hope they make it out alive to release the finished product.

Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left remake) and Pat Healy (Rescue Dawn) will play the two remaining employees of an old, supposedly ‘haunted’ hotel on their last night of business. Their suspicions of the place being haunted are asserted by the eerily eccentric guests that check in that night – including a former actress/self proclaimed psychic and an elderly man who insists on staying in a specific room – and the strange events that take place throughout the night.

Production design will be done by Jade Healey who aims for timelessness in creating props and set pieces that will give the hotel “an austere look”. West has gained a significant following of past, present & future generations of genre fans following the DVD release of his acclaimed homage to late 70s horror, House of the Devil. He is also the rotten brains behind the repulsive, raunchy spring break cesspool of splatter, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, although he has since removed his name from the credits. Here is a man who is simply following his destiny; riding the blood wave to film fame and dishing out horror-gasms aplenty.

The Innskeeper will be produced by Dark Sky Films in association with Glass Eye Pix.

  1. I still can’t believe it same guy that made House of the Devil made Cabin Fever 2 and the Roost. I hope his next film is the caliber of House of the Devil and not those other 2.
