“Basket Case” coming to blu-ray

Legendary horror director Frank Henenlotter (FrankenhookerBrain Damage) announced on his Facebook page that he is working on a high definition transfer of the grimy New York horror classicBasket Case. ”We’re hoping to have a Basket Case blu-ray ready by October through Image Entertainment” says Henenlotter. The plot of BC follows Duane and his monstrously deformed and murderous conjoined twin brother Belial in their gory exploits.

It doesn’t sound like a deal is set in stone yet (although there is already a pre-order page onAmazon) but Henenlotter is already working on the transfer. The director had this to say about that process, “Though we’re using the 35mm inter-positive for the transfer, our point of reference is the 16mm original. The result is that this version of BC is going to look a bit different than what we’re used to, but it will be as close as possible to the original 16mm version I shot way back when.”

The preliminary word is that they are shooting for September 27, 2011 release date. Stay tuned here for more info as they are available!
