Cinephobia Radio’s tribute to Toronto’s thriving genre scene

by on March 27, 2010

On this episode, we celebrate the thriving genre movie scene in Cinephobia Radio’s current home base of Toronto, Onterrible, Canada.

In recent years, the city has emerged as a veritable epicentre of cult film culture, due in large part to the work of the contributors featured on this episode. They all represent organisations that, while based in Toronto, Onterrible, have had a far reaching, ‘international’ impact on the spread of genre film.

So grab a Tim Horton’s, break out the Kraft Dinner and brace yourself for the 3D vocal stylings of:
-Dave Alexander (Editor-In-Chief of Rue Morgue Magazine),
-Colin Geddes (Midnight Madness Programmer at the Toronto International Film Festival)
-Todd Brown (Founder and Editor of Twitch Film)
-& Chris Alexander (the newly anointed Editor-In-Chief of legendary horror magazine, Fangoria.)

That’s right, folks! Believe it or not, the brains of America’s Horror Magazine now reside in Oakville, Ontario!

Cinephobia Radio is the official podcast of Stuart “Feedback” Andrews, one of the voices of the Rondo Hatton Award winning Rue Morgue Radio, the official podcast of Rue Morgue Magazine. The podcast launched in late 2009 with an in-depth, career retrospective interview with Malcolm McDowell. Other shows have included interviews with effects legend Ray Harryhausen and Lips and Robb Reiner from Anvil (in what is the most extensive interview they’ve done since the release of the documentary.)

The Zeroes is an ongoing series of heavily produced radio shows that take an irreverant look back at the best and worst of the decade known as ‘The Noughties.’ Episode One featured an interview with the notorious German filmmaker ‘Dr. Uwe Boll!” The series will conclude with the upcoming installment The Zeroes: The Final Chapter featuring some surprise guest reviewers and the unveiling of the annual Cinephobia Radio awards, THE GLAZZIES!

Upcoming Cinephobia interviews include Karen Black, Gaspar Noe, Roger Corman, Christina Lindberg and George A. Romero.
