Fulci’s classic “Zombie” coming to blu-ray

Arguably the best Lucio Fulci flick as well as possibly the best walking dead film of all time is coming to high definition blu-ray from the original uncut and uncensored camera negative courtesy of Blue Underground. The new stunning 2.35:1 widescreen, full 1080p HD disk also boast a hearty upgraded 7.1 DTS-HD as well as a 5.1 EX and the original mono audio soundtrack.

From the press release:
In Italy, it was considered the ‘unofficial sequel’ to DAWN OF THE DEAD. In England, it was known as ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS and banned as obscene. In America, it was called ZOMBIE and advertised with the depraved tag line “WE ARE GOING TO EAT YOU!” Tisa Farrow (THE GRIM REAPER), Ian McCulloch (CONTAMINATION), Al Cliver (CANNIBALS), and Richard Johnson (THE HAUNTING) star in this worldwide splatter sensation directed by ‘Maestro Of Gore’ Lucio Fulci (CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY) that remains one of the most eye-skewering, skin-ripping, gore-gushingly graphic horror hits of all time!

  1. I consider Zombie Fulci’s finest film overall, one of the better zombie movies ever made. It’s extremely eerie and gory, with fewer unintentional laughs than is common in most overdubbed Italian horror flicks of the late ’70s and ’80s.
