Navarre Closes BCI Eclipse

by on December 18, 2008

bcilogoAccording to a press release from distribution giant The Navarre Corporation, it is closing its BCI subsidiary due to the recession. BCI, distributors of Code Red DVD, Ultimate Fighting Championship DVDs and my favorite the Drive-in Cult Classics boxed sets and much more “have been unprofitable for the past two years” says Cary Deacon, Navarre’s Chief Executive Officer. He goes on to say that they will continue to distribute the “DVD content that is most appealing to our retail customers and consumers” through Navarre Distribution Services. Basically it sounds like they are getting rid of their genre stuff. Sad, I hope this isn’t a hint of things to come for other exploitation DVD companies.
