Have you ever wanted to see all of your favorite horror industry icons of past and present in one place? If so, look no further than The Bloody Best Project.
Behind the Bloody Best Project is a Los Angeles based team of four that have set out to create a book featuring some of the greatest figures in the horror industry. What started as a conversation about horror movies between two of the collaborators on the set of a fashion project led to photo shoots of some of their friends involved in the horror industry and the project hasn’t slowed down since. The end product of their hard work will be a coffee table book featuring 50 to 100 horror celebrities and legends.
However, these aren’t just point and shoot photos. Project photographer Ama Reeves had this to say, “We chose to go with a very conceptual editorial feel to the photos. Every image tells a story. This started with a discussion about Vanity Fair [magazine]. They are legendary for these amazingly well shot stylized images of celebrities and throughout their entire run they have only featured two people from the horror genre; Alfred Hitchcock and Eli Roth. Kind of depressing when you stop and think about it. So we wanted to immortalize people of our favorite genre in the same sort of fashion.”
Not wanting to give the names of the people they have photographed, Reeves did say that working with horror legends Kane Hodder, Tom Holland, and Barbara Crampton was a horror nerds dream. If these are the names they have released already, who knows who else they have lined up. The Bloody Best Project is expected to finish shooting by the end of the 2011-2012 winter and is planning a full tour to promote the book in the fall of 2012.
