Gory Hammer film “Hands of the Ripper” coming to Blu-ray

handsoftheripperBLURAYSynapse Films is adding to their Blu-ray Hammer Horror Collection—along with the fantastic Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus—with the much more violent and gory Hands of the Ripper by director Peter Sasdy who also did the Hammer classics Taste the Blood of Dracula and Countess Dracula. Sasdy also did three episodes of “Hammer House of Horror” television show (which was also released by Synapse last year); “Visitor from the Grave”, “Rude Awakening” and “The Thirteenth Reunion”. Now on July 9th Hands of the Ripper will be released completely restored and uncut for the first time on high-definition region A Blu-ray!

As one of the biggest theatrical horror releases of 2012, Sinister was one of the few movies that I actually wanted to see in the theatre but didn’t get around to. I kept up with all the reviews, good and bad, as they poured into genre news websites, and I was actually surprised at the abundance of positive feedback that this mainstream horror film was getting. But after having a few of my fellow horror-crazed friends warn me that it was pretty disappointing, I decided I’d finally check it out and decide for myself.
