Dr. Viktor Vasilienko is a mad scientist who wants to punish “Capitalistic society” for their wrong-doings. He creates a serum called “The Rage” (I know, ironic, right?) to infect humans and turn them into flesh eating mutations. But during his experiments to try and create an antidote, he is attacked by one of his mutants and the monster escapes. After he escapes and dies he is eaten by vultures. The vultures turn into mutants and carriers of “The Rage”.
Enter the typical group of fun-loving youngsters. The five whipper snappers are doing the things most kids do; partying, smoking dope, having threesomes and running over mutated, zombie-like dudes eating roadkill. Wait, what was that last one, you ask? They run over one of the mutants but when they get out to see what happened, they are attacked by the vultures.
Some of them escape and happen to run into Dr. Vasilienko’s lab where he is still busy with his zany experiments. This time he has mutant, cross-dressing midgets to help him out! So the kids are captured, tortured a little and finally launch a daring escape. How many of the kiddies will survive? Can the doctor complete his nutty revenge on society? Will the vultures build nests in your ’80s style pubic hair?
Robert Kurtzman is famous for his make-up and visual effects (Cabin Fever, Hostel and tons more), not his storytelling or directorial abilities. Thank god, because the plot, direction and acting are horrid in The Rage. But it’s saving grace is the awesome gore effects and there is bucket loads of it. The CGI effects are a little, um, shitty, but that along with the ultra cheesy dialogue kept me laughing throughout. The vultures were really hilarious too. Half bad puppetry and half crappy CGI. They were the stars of the show in the 30 minute middle act. They not only killed and ate humans, but they didn’t discriminate when it came to mutant humans or psycho Russian scientists.
This is one of those movies that you invite over a few friends, pop a couple brews (or smoke a bowl), and sit back and enjoy the show. If you’re a fan of the Re-Animator franchise, into over-the-top gore, silly characters and great one-liners, check this out. You and your pot head friends will dig it. Dude, don’t bogart!

Puff puff pass to the vulture
i am a massive pothead, and i thought this was so terrible it was even beyond my enjoyment…the acting was soooo terrible…and not even funny terrible, but annoying as hell terrible. bad CGI is a movie destroyer in my book, and this has some of the worst i’ve seen in a while. bad practical gore/monster effects are usually funny, and enjoyable…bad CGI effects just come off as cheap, lazy and annoying…
Wasting my money & time!
