Video-X-Pix’s Platinum Elite Collection is the Cadillac of classic porn
In the mid-60s Distribpix started a brokerage and production company for the Times Square grindhouses. From there they went on to produce some sexploitation fare and finally onto making XXX films in the 1970s and ’80s, the “Golden Age” of the porn industry. To keep up with the ever-changing business, the company changed its name to Video-X-Pix and became an adult home video distribution giant. In the ’90s, when porn began to change and in some fan’s eyes, began to decline in quality, VXP decided to bow out of the game. Since DVD has overtaken the VHS, Video-X-Pix is back with a vengeance, releasing some of the best classic titles in history.
They have a huge library and it continues to grow, but the collector in me is really excited about their Platinum Elite Collection. The collection — so far consisting of three titles (see details below) — is their cream of the crop titles that are digitally remastered from the original 35mm film stock. Not only are the transfers beautiful but they are in their correct aspect ratios and completely uncut! All of the releases so far are also loaded, and I mean LOADED with extra features that will surely make all of you in the raincoat crowd squeal with glee like little girls. They also pack wonderfully entertaining booklets containing liner notes from XXX historian, Benson Hurst. Believe me when I tell you, these are the most beautiful, high quality classic porn releases in existence. The packaging alone must have cost these guys big bucks to produce.
As of today VXP has also announced that the next title in line for this royal treatment will be Shaun Costello’s The Passion of Carol which is an adult retelling of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. Apropos of that, they are shooting for a Christmas time release date.
