Synapse Films imprint Panik House Entertainment along with internet celebrity nudity legend Mr. Skin worked together to bring a couple of beloved Women in Prison films to DVD, both starring the scintillating, big breasted Linda Blair. “But it’s a triple feature”, you say, “that’s only two”. Uh yeah, I’ll get to that a little later.

First up is the sleazy skin flick I remember from my younger days of staying up late on Friday nights to catch Cinemax After Dark; Chained Heat (1983). This is not to be confused with the similarly titled Jonathan Demme film Caged Heat starring Barbara Steele. Chained stars a who’s-who of exploitation cinema; Linda Blair, John Vernon, Sybil Danning, Tamara Dobson, Stella Stevens and many more, some of whom also appear in the other films contained in this collection. Blair stars as a woman sentenced to prison for accidentally running over a man. The Captain of the Guards (Stevens) is running drugs and whores on the inside with the help of the prison’s medical supplier and the head convict Ericka (Danning) unbeknownst to the perverted Warden (Vernon) who just wants to fuck the inmates.

Blair soon learns the rules of the convicts and that there are people you can’t fuck with. She must also take sides in a race war headed by The Dutchess (Dobson) who wants to protect her people from Ericka and her drug dealings. Dobson has a great line to Danning during an altercation, “Don’t walk away from me you chalk-faced whore!”. There is some real sleazy shower scenes of complete soaped up nudity and lesbian sex in which we get to see Blair and Dannings wonderful jugs in the same scene where Danning tries to bring Blair over to the Dark Side, to no avail. Chainedis the sleaziest of the three films in a fun kind of way with just over-the-top, fully exploitive full nudity. All of the actors/actresses are perfect in their roles but John Vernon as the creepy warden steals the show with his sex dungeon office complete with jacuzzi and cameras.

Red Heat (1985) is Blair’s second prison themed film as well as the second feature in this collection. It is set in an East German political prison as Blair’s character Christine is mistakenly taken into custody with a female spy. Christine’s Army commando husband realizes she is missing and uses his connections to plan to break her out. Meanwhile she is subjected to the harsh realities of German stalag prison camps. In the role of the convict badass is Emanuelle herself Sylvia Krystal, whose character is much more severe than her Chained Heat counterpart. She enforces her power by snatching sleeping women from their beds, tattooing their face and gang-raping them in the showers with her group of henchwomen. The overall tone of Red is darker and more serious thanChained. But Blair’s character in both is the same whiny wimp who is pushed too far and is the hero in the end. In this one she has a lot of help from her soldier-boy fiance who breaks her and her friends out Hogan’s Heroes style.

I am a little confused about the third movie in the set, Jungle Warriors. I’m not confused of how fucking awesome it is, but because it’s not at all a WIP film. Yes, there is a very small part of the movie where a group of women are in a cell, but that’s it. The movie is really a jungle action movie that happens to have a gaggle of models in it. Kind of like if Andy Sidaris co-wrote and directed Cut & Run with Ruggero Deodato. That group of models are on their way to a remote location in South America for a photo shoot when their plane is shot down and they are abducted by a drug kingpin named Caesar, his sister (Danning) and his army of local paramilitary soldiers. Caesar imprisons the models so that he can make a huge drug transaction with Vito Mastranga (Vernon) and his gang of mafia types. The girls bust out with the help of a little old woman and this sparks events that start an all-out war between Caesar and Vito’s men, ending in one of the most fucking awesome shootouts I’ve ever seen.

This collection really could have been called “The Linda Blair Prison Double Feature” and hadJungle Warriors as a fucking sweet DVD extra since it has the Vernon/Danning tie-in. After seeing these two Sybil Danning roles, she is now on my exploitation babe radar. She is completely awesome in her roles, especially the Chained Heat bitch Ericka. It doesn’t hurt that she has a great rack and she isn’t afraid to show it off. In Jungle she also orchestrates a gang rape of the 6-7 models by approximately 20 drooling South American savages. All of the 16×9 transfers look amazing with little to no print damage. There are some muted colors and blurry images, but that’s just the way the films look due to age and other factors. This is the first time that Chained Heat has been fully uncut in the U.S. and it is truly one of the best WIP ever made. It definitely has some of the highest production values especially when compared to some D’Amato and Franco prison films I can think of.

You really should pick this up if for no other reason than getting Chained uncut and with a great picture. But you should hurry because like Panik House’s “Pinky Violence” collection, this one is going to have a limited print run. To be better safe than sorry, order yours NOW!
